Your Lordship will see that the European Inhabitants conceive the ground in question to have been reserved for the Public, and that Major General Jervois has no objection to their desire, as expressed in their letter address of 28th June last, being complied with. This arrangement I trust Your Lordship will be induced to sanction, and thus set at rest a question, which in my opinion, ought never

to have been made a subject of discussion by the Respective Officers-
